Oksana Lushchevska is a children's writer, translator, publicist, researcher of children's and adolescent literature.
She was born on February 17, 1982 in Talnoe, Cherkasy region. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Uman State Pedagogical University named after P. Tychyna.
From 2010 to 2012 she studied for a master's degree at Pennsylvania State University (USA). In 2016 she received a doctorate in education from the University of Georgia (USA). She specializes in world children's literature and reading reception.
For three years she worked as a translator of translated books for the American section of the International Council on Children and Youth Books (IBBY). She wrote about Ukrainian children's literature in the IBBY European Newsletter. The initiator of the project " Step forward: we are globalizing together with the Ukrainian-English picture books ", within which the publishing house " Bratske " up to ten bilingual books were published. Co-founder of the blog about modern children's literature «Kazkarka» and " Rating Criticism: Best Children and Adolescent Books of the Year ".
Oksana Lushchevskaya's children's books have repeatedly been shortlisted for the BBC Book of the Year " and were highly praised by experts of the Ukrainian Children's Book Space " BaraBuk ". In 2017, the writer's story " Wind from the Sun " was included in the prestigious catalog of 200 best children's books in the world «White Ravens» (" White Crows ").
The teenage story " Mirrors " and a collection of short stories " Blue Umbrella " Oksana Lushchevska was staged by the STUDIO N.Zh. theater studio, and they are often heard on the radio. The author's texts are included in the " Reader of Modern Ukrainian Children 's Literature ".
Lushchevskaya – winner of literary competitions «Golden Stork» (2008), " Torch " (2009), " Granoslov " (2007), " Write a book about me " (2016, 2018).
Lushchevska's prose and poetry were published in periodicals and anthologies, in particular in the anthology of author's abroad «AZ, two, three & hellip; twelve – letter in a bottle », «Red and black: One hundred Ukrainian poets of the twentieth century », «Mom on Skype» and numerous collections and magazines for children.
Since 2014, Oksana has been actively advising publishers on books for translation. Participates as a consultant and author in the development of many literary projects, such as «She did» («Publishing House»).
Compiled and translated catalogs of Ukrainian children's literature of leading Ukrainian publishers for international exhibitions.
Founder of children's online courses Joyful Fox Reading Club, aimed at developing reading culture, critical thinking and visual literacy.
Oksana Lushchevska currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. She actively communicates with readers in Ukrainian schools and libraries both via Skype and when visiting Ukraine.
